John G. Roberts Wouldn't Answer the Questions

Bush's nominee for Chief Justice John G. Roberts recently completed being asked questions by the US Senate Judiciary Committee.
However, Roberts refused to answer many of the questions, and the White House has only released a fraction of the documents about his work for previous administrations.
A letter in today's Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Imagine you were in charge of hiring for a large corporation and you were to hire someone for a top position -- one of the most important in the company.
The person applying for the job has been recommended by the CEO, but when he comes to the interview he refuses to disclose a lot of his past professional experience and information on the application, and refuses to undergo a full background check. This person is very evasive when answering questions, sometimes flat-out declining to answer. The person has less than two years of experience in a similar position.
Any human resources director worth his or her salt would see all the red flags and inform the CEO that this person should not be considered for the position unless he can fully disclose all information about himself and his past employment, and answer questions fully and honestly.
Why any responsible U.S. senator would vote to confirm John Roberts for such an important position as chief justice of the Supreme Court, considering his evasiveness and lack of experience, is totally beyond my comprehension.

During the Senate hearings, Bush's nominee for chief justice, John G. Roberts, refused to comment on the controversial Kelo case, which gives the government the right to take control of private property.
The bogusness of this refusal is exposed by The Daily Howler:
Sam Brownback asked Roberts about the Kelo decision. The Post’s live blog records what we heard:
POST BLOG (9/14/05): Roberts yesterday had said he did not want to comment on potential future cases. In refraining to give his views about Kelo, he used a somewhat different approach, saying because the case "was just decided last year," he wasn't going to discuss it.
"If the issue does come back before the court, " Roberts said, "I need to address it without previously commenting on it."
But why does he need to do that? Every current sitting justice has “previously commented” on the issue in the decisions on Kelo this year! All of them have “previously commented --- so why does Roberts “need” to be different?
Obviously, a judge shouldn't announce which side he'd rule for if an appeal comes before him. But saying what he thinks of existing decisions doesn't bind him, and isn't prohibited.
The biggest problem with John G. Roberts, though, isn't what we don't know about him, but what we do know: his narrow concept of "liberty." Judge John G. Roberts has ruled that the Constitutional protection of our liberty (and prohibition against unreasonable search and seizure) doesn't bar the police from arresting a girl for eating french fries in a train station.

Joe- That transcript shows Ginsburg being asked ridiculously abstract questions such as are the Free Exercise clause and Establishment clause equal (Patrick Leahy's question), and declining to answer. That is different from John G. Roberts being asked his opinion about Kelo and declining to answer.

5. The absolute insanity of these comments shows that the left doesn't understand; doesn't really read anything for themselves or just flat out lies about everything. Read the transcripts of these hearings and really pay attention to what john Roberts says. He eft the democrat senators stuttering and looking idiotic. There is no way that you can read or listen to these proceedings and not be impressed with this man. All the tricks the great senators tried to get away with (taking comments out of context from memos or papers, leaving out information, making stuff up)he calmly and intelligently pointed out their exclusions or educated them on the facts. He was a great choice for chief justice!

6. When did anyone ever see a Democrat act with a fraction of the class and character Roberts demonstrated? A. Never. Well, first of all democrats never get grilled on anything. The media turns every question into a blame republican witch hunt. They get a media pass and Supreme Court pass. So I guess the question is hypothetical. And don't give me the Clinton sex trial 'example.' What that was an example of is how even serious threats to American security and safety will be minimized down to something as petty as sex. Although what Clinton did was VERY un- presidental to say the least. Just like every democrat president since Kennedy. Speaking out on current political issues used to be considered off limits when it undermines a sitting president. Democrats have NO class OR character. They behave like spoiled rotten children, who lie like hell and blame everybody else.
