Al Franken and Paul Krugman list Bush's mistakes in Iraq War. Katherine Lanpher co-hosts. September 21, 2004 "Al Franken Show" radio broadcast.
There are problems in Iraq, such as the escalating violence and lack of elecricity and clean water.
During the debate Thursday night, John Kerry said that Bush "rushed the war in Iraq without a plan to win the peace. Now, that is not the judgment that a president of the United States ought to make. You don't take America to war unless have the plan to win the peace."
A couple of weeks ago, Al Franken and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman listed the mistakes Bush made in the Iraq War:
1) Invading Iraq.
2) Too few troops and other nations not providing more troops..
Krugman said the Bush Administration didn't really want an international
coalition for the war because "The Project for a New American
Century" wanted to prove how easy it is to take over another country.
Krugman also said that our troops being bogged down in Iraq means the US doesn't have a credbile threat of force regarding Noth Korea or Iran.
3) Didn't stop the looting.
4) Disbanding Saddam's army.
5) Privatizing Iraq's indurstries.
Jay Garner was eager to hold local elections. But Paul
Bremer was sent to take over and cancelled those electons
because Bremer was so eager to privativze Iraq's industries. Bremer also put in place a flat-tax.
6) Inexperienced people in charge of reconstruction. Twenty-somethings
who had applied for Heritage Foundation jobs were put in charge of Iraq's reconstruction, though they were unqualified.
Given all the mistakes Bush has made in managing Iraq, it is time to give someone else a chance.
Vote for John Kerry and watch carefully how he does. If you're not satisfied, vote for someone else in 2008.
