Easy Ways to Help Air America Radio by Eric Jaffa
July 11, 2004
Some background: "Air America Radio" is a network with a liberal perspective which debuted on March 31, 2004. Janeane Garofalo and Al Franken are two of the hosts on "Air America." Garofalo's show is called "The Majority Report." Franken's show was originally titled "The O'Franken Factor," but starting tomorrow it will be titled "The Al Franken Show." The hosts of Air America respond to the lies of the Bush Administration and its media supporters, and also raise awareness of Democratic candidates and liberal authors. (Missouri US Senate candidate Nancy Farmer was a guest on Garofalo's show; author Amy Goodman was a guest on Franken's show.) There are a number of ways one can listen to "Air America." Nationally, it's available on the web at www.airamericaradio.com and other websites. It's also available through XM and Sirius Satellite radio. Some prefer Sirus of the two satellite broadcasters, since XM plays Alan Colmes, who isn't part of Air America, instead of the last hour of Janeane Garofalo's show. Locally, Air America is available on stations listed here. THREE EASY WAYS TO HELP AIR AMERICA
1. Buy a hat or shirt, and wear it.
2. Post about Air America on an internet message board. On a political message board, you can post about something notable you heard on Air America anytime. With a non-political message board, you can post about a related topic which comes up during a particular show. For example, when Gene Bauston of the vegetarian-group Farm Sanctuary appeared on Janeane Garofalo's show, I posted about it on a vegetarian message board. Also, on most internet message boards, it's acceptable for regulars to occasionally make a post which isn't about the main subject of the board, if the phrase "Off Topic" is included in the subject line. (Don't make "Off Topic" posts on boards where that isn't acceptable. Ask the moderator if you're unsure of the board rules on "Off Topic" posts.) 3. If there is a physical, real-world bulletin board you're allowed to use, you can download this unofficial flyer I created, customize it to your location (it currently has stations and broadcast times for Minnesota), and put it up.
